“The DAILY Life Of Faith, Part 1” by Nancy Dufresne
Years ago, I had been talking with someone towards the end of their life. They would pray for their healing, but their prayers didn’t seem to get results. After they went to Heaven, I asked God about their situation because I wanted to learn so that I could best help others.
God said to me, “They didn’t have a lifestyle of faith in the Word, so when they needed it, there was no skill of faith in place. Faith is a lifestyle. Although they were born again, faith had never been part of their lifestyle. They had never learned to exercise their authority and resist the devil. They had never learned to receive healing for their body, so when they endeavored to have faith in the final months of their life, they didn’t have the knowledge or skill in believing and receiving from God.”
Dr. Lester Sumrall stated, “Faith must be reborn every day!” He was saying that faith is a lifestyle. Faith is not just “moments” in a person’s life – it’s the way we are to live every day.
Hebrews 10:38 tells us, “Now the just shall LIVE by faith….” Releasing our faith, exercising our authority, resisting the devil, and calling in our blessings is to be a DAILY LIFESTYLE! Faith involves the way we think, the way we speak, and the way we respond to and act on the Word daily! Faith is the way we are to live! We are to have a lifestyle of faith!
Fellowshipping with God, exercising our faith and authority, and walking in God’s power is to be a daily situation. Healing power, miracle power, prosperity, victory – these are to be flows that we practice daily, not just at random moments. Practice these flows daily, for faith in the Word of God is to govern our everyday situations.
God’s care for us is daily. The Word tells us that His mercies are new every morning. He loads us daily with benefits. It’s by faith that we partake of all His daily provisions for our life.
To have a faith that is flourishing, we must have a faith that is growing and skillful, so we must employ “faith disciplines.” Faith is a discipline. Hebrews 11:6 reads, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that DILIGENTLY seek him.”
Faith is a discipline. If the disciplines of faith falter, then faith will falter. In 2 Peter 1:4 & 5 we read, “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all DILIGENCE, add to your faith….” We must be diligent towards developing our spirit and towards developing our faith. Anyone who is highly skilled in their profession is gaining and growing in skill every day.
People with few natural disciplines will struggle in life – even more true if we lack spiritual disciplines. I’m not talking about “works” to try to earn something from God. God has already made all things ours – there’s nothing left to earn. But we must become skillful with our faith so we can fully partake of what He already provided for us. Just because He’s provided it doesn’t mean we are partaking of it. As one minister stated, “With consistency lies victory.”
Consistency in the Word builds a foundation in us. We are to not only be consistent to feed on it, but be consistent to do it! We must have a lifestyle of exercising authority so that we are skillful at receiving from God when a need arises.
